4 Month Stats

Koy finally had his 4 month appointment and right now he weighs in at 14 lbs, 10 oz and is 25.5 inches long. He's in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height. He started on cereal last week and he loves it unless he is too tired to eat. Suprising, I know. This kid usually would eat all day if we would let him. He's quite the spitter-upper but it's getting a little bit better. I thought it was because he eats too much but even if he eats for like 30 seconds he spits up. He was a champ at his check up except he started crying when the dr looked at him. Really, his dr. said it was because he felt insecure but Koy freaks out when he sees people he doesn't know. Our friends came over last week and Zach wanted to hold him and Koy stuck out his bottom lip and then started to cry. Oh well. Hopefully, he is ok when we go on our trip next week and he is in places he doesn't know.

He had to have two shots and I was quite happy that they brought in two nurses so that they could each give him a shot at the same time... well, I didn't stay happy for long. They gave him the shots and then the one nurse started to give him the little oral immunization. The first time he had it the nurse said that it usally calms them down but good heck, do they expect the kid to just suck that down right after shots? Koy really is a good baby and he wasn't even crying very hard. She started to give the oral stuff to him and he wasn't just sucking it down like no tomorrow but he wasn't spitting it out. Well, he obviously wasn't swollowing it as fast as the nurse wanted him to and she said to him, "Well just choke on it then." What?! You don't talk to my baby that way! I'm no over protective parent but good heck! He is only 4 months old and you just gave him two shots and now your mad at him because he's crying and he's not sucking down the medicine? I just stared at Koy and then after he finished the medicine, she just walked out of the room, no "see ya in a couple months" or "your all done." She just walked out. I really like our pediatritian but so far only one of the girls that works for him is nice. I'm half tempted to call him and tell him what happened but I don't want to be an annoying mom. On the other hand, I don't want my baby being talked to like that. I worked for a pediatric dentist for 2 years and I NEVER talked to a kid like that. Even when a 15 year old cried during flouride treatment (I know, drama and she seriously needed slapped...) and when a 3 year old bit my finger so hard that it bruised it, I didn't say anything rude to them. I'm still debating on what to do...

On to other matters, Koy has been a little bit off this week. He's not really fussy but he's not as good as usual. We have discovered little white nubbins coming through his bottom gums. Yeah, this kid is getting his first teeth. Yikes. It makes me a little nervous but I guess they have to come in sometime.

The new addition to our family is doing great. Justin smiles like a kid in a candy store when you talk to him about his truck. I was a little worried he would regret selling the Dodge, but he is just in LOVE with his purchase. They are like best buds and they go almost everywhere together. Koy and I went for our first ride in it last week and it really was fun. It is SO loud but it does have some major POWER. (If I'm correct, they put a hot-rod engine in it...) Koy was funny and he didn't really know what to think. He just stared at us with huge eyes at first but maybe he was confused because he could see us too. It's pretty fun to just drive around in and I'm glad Justin is so happy with it. I haven't taken any pictures of it yet, but I'll get some soon.

Jolly Time Popcorn = EVIL

So for those of you who haven't tried out the Mallow Magic flavor of popcorn from Jolly Time, DON'T START. It will ruin your life. The delicious popcorn will rule your day, your night and every split second in between. You will find yourself just trying a few scrumptious kernels... and then a few more... and then you'll lick your fingers and say your done but NO, you can't stop, you keep eating and eating and pretty soon the bag is gone and then you say, "Heck, I already ruined my diet for one day, why not just a little more from a new bag?" and then you pop another bag, squeeze the gooey marshmallow over top, shake and before you know it the whole bag is gone and your licking the inside of bag just for one last taste. . . I hate this popcorn.

*FYI, I have not eaten a bag on my own yet but have contemplated it. These are just my thoughts and if I didn't have any self control, I would be the next contestant on the Biggest Looser and my life would be ruined.

4 Months!

Koy has survived 4 months with his crazy parents. Woo woo! As you can see, he LOVES to smile and his giggle is so cute! Here are some of his accomplishments for this last month:

* He likes to drool, drool, drool. Bibs don't help because if he gets it in his mouth, it is completely soaked in just a few minutes and if he gets it up in his face so he can't see, he freaks out.

* He is noisy, noisy, noisy. He just lays on the floor and squeels and makes noises at whatever he can. It gets so loud sometimes that it's pointless to try to have a conversation or watch something on T.V. Thank heavens he likes his binky!

* "Cars" can keep his attention better than anything else I've found. It's nice to be able to have something to keep him entertained so I can get ready.

* His arms are long enough to finally reach all of the toys on his toy bar and swing. He was sitting in the seat from his swing this morning and before I had even walked away he had pulled both of the stuffed animals off and was squeezing and eating them.

* He has a stuffed turtle that he quite enjoys squeezing.

* Doing the actions to the "USU" cheer makes him giggle and he even got a free shirt from Big Blue at one of the games.

*And finally, his biggest accomplishment as of yesterday is.... drum-roll please.... he can roll from his front to back!!! It is so fun to see him get all excited when he rolls over all by himself. What a cutie pie!

He has his 4 month check up on the 24th and so we don't know how much he weighs or how tall he is right now. But we'll find out next week and my sis-in-law Camille gets to find out what they are having on that day. We're so excited for them!

A new addiction

Last night rocked!!! Koy slept from 8:30 - 5:30! We were so stoked! It's only taken over a month for him to get back on a good sleeping schedule but he is hopefully back on it. He is almost 4 months old and he is SO close to rolling over. It's so fun to watch him get better everyday and he just thinks it's pretty cool that he doesn't have to lay on his back all the time. However, he can only handle so much rolling practice before he spits up. That's always a joy... but what can you do? I love this little blue outfit and today is the first time that he has had it on all day and not had a blow-out. I know that is seriously gross and blunt but really, it's like he knows that it's my favorite outfit so he has to get it all messy and stuff just to spite me. We measure the severity of blow-outs by the number of wipes you go through. This outfit tends to cause a 6+ wipe blow out. Gag. We still love you though Koy. You are just too cute!

No matter how hard we have tried to get him to take a binky instead of his thumb, it's a losing battle. It's a lot easier to get rid of a binky than his fingers because it's not like you can just cut his thumb off so he won't suck it. I guess we won't worry about it for now and we'll just have to cross that bridge here in a few months. He still takes his binky when you give it to him, but he finds his thumb a lot now. We know it's such a horrible habit and we vowed we would never let our children be thumb suckers but he's determined to have it... plus, I will admit that it's just a little bit cute...
