Pictures, pictures and guess what? More pictures!

Two posts in two days. Woot!
Just a few pictures from our lives over the past few months.

The first time Koy got to hold and see Titan. Aw. Tender.

I had forgotten how little new babies are in car-seats.
Too bad he didn't stay that little for long. :(

"Koy, hold his head."
So he literally, held Titan's head...

Scary crying face, right?
Yeah... we saw a LOT of this face during the first couple months.
Sometimes my ears would seriously hurt from the crying. So sad.

We went for a helicopter ride... not.
This really is a working helicopter. It was too windy that day to take it out.
I probably would have peed my pants so it was a blessing in disguise.

Thinking he needs to hide from the sun in St. George by wearing Emmary's hat and glasses.

The real zoo. (Not our house.)

Koy hiding from the dinosaurs.
It took a little while to figure out what he was doing.

Riding the carousel w/Bonka.

Titan's blessing day.

Cute grandparents swinging with their grandkiddos...

All cleaned up for church which doesn't last long.
(Titan looks all freaked out. Ha, ha.)

Paige and her cheesy smile. Silly girl.

And we'll end this post with fireworks or "A" firework in celebration of two posts in 24 hrs.

Brushing off the dust once again...

Obviously, me and blogging aren't good friends. It's a love/hate relationship. I love to read other blogs but I hate to update ours. It just takes so much time. Our home computer went on strike so that's my excuse this time. One day I'll get some pictures put up here since I've only updated on Titan twice since he was born and he's already 4 months old. Oops!

Just a quick update on us:
  • We are officially staying put here in our cozy condo. Justin got a new job at USU and he'll be able to start working on his PhD this fall. Two thumbs up and a pat on the back because I think it's cool and I think he rocks!
  • My little sister got married! She looked sooo pretty and I have not one single picture to prove it. We are super excited for her though. My dad got bucked off a horse the day before and he was in a wheel chair for the big day but he was on some pretty strong meds. Self medicating = happy Greg.
  • Titan was blessed and he's grown out of his reflux! Wow. Reflux is not cool. Not cool at all. He's pretty much the strong silent type... especially compared to Koy. He does smile and he's starting to giggle a lot. He loves the jumper and watching Koy. He is officially a thumb sucker. He'll take his bink sometimes but he LOVES that thumb. At the rate he drools I was sure he'd have a tooth by now, but thankfully, he doesn't.
  • We went to the Zoo and saw their cool dinosaur exhibit. Koy is STILL terrified of them. Wow. He is quite the talker and such a good help with Titan. He has sooo much energy and quite the imagination. He is potty trained but you have to watch him outside because he... well, he's just a boy. We'll leave it at that. He cracks me up everyday but my favorite from this week was when I was telling him to hurry (for like the 50th time) and he yelled back, "Where's your Christmas spirit?!" He also is super excited for his birthday and the only thing he wants is a pair of "glubs" or as we call it, gloves. Pretty simple so I think we'll roll with it.
As for me, I'm tired and so I'm going to bed! :)

My Thoughts are on Fire!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has spent many hours over the last 10+ days thinking about this fire and I wanted to put some of these thoughts on paper. There has been a lot of talk and finger pointing, and to be fair, I think that the best thing would be to have some honest and open dialogue. So, here are a few things that I think, or that I’ve thought, or that I think I’ve thought:

First I think it’s sad. That is our big backyard, and a lot of it will look like a testing ground for new and improved atomic bombs for years to come.

I think of all the favorites and firsts: fishing holes, hunting spots, picnics, dates, scenic views of the fall colors, campouts, family reunions, wood hauls, Christmas tree outings, scout camps, wild horse chases, and this is just my list. How many others follow the song “Where I drank my first beer, found Jesus, wrecked my first car…”?

I think of the irony. 15 or 20 years ago the forest was shut down to logging, all to maintain a habitat for the spotted owl. Grazing permits were cut (most by more than half) livelihoods were affected and families relocated, and now what? It’s like the tail wagging the dog right off a cliff. And it’s ridiculous.

I think too much is being said about who lit the match and not enough is being said about who built the bomb. Sure it was as dumb as tap-dancing in a field of land-mines, but it was still a mistake. A fire needs 3 things: fuel, oxygen, and a spark. Most of us lived blissfully in a state of naïve denial for the last 15+ years thinking it wouldn’t happen, couldn’t happen, or not even thinking about it at all. “All is well, Zion prospereth, All is well…” instead of being more active. At least I did. Rodeo-Chedeski didn’t change anything, why should the Wallow?

I think the absence of active management provided most of the fuel, and it’s not all the fault of the forest service. Land-use policy, government bureaucracy, rich environmentalists, and every sue-happy leach with no conscience all heaped their mountains of fuel on the mountain of fuel. The forest service often follows the path of least resistance; disgruntled loggers and ranchers versus the deep pockets of the liberal hippies. To some extent their hands are tied.

I think it is an oxymoron to call them the forest service. It is a bureau at best, full of bloated salaries and egos, so-called experts who spend more time drawing a check than they do working (some, not all). How many millions of dollars at 0% containment? What an exchange rate!

I think if they can build a fire line from Water Canyon to Mexican Haylake, they could have built one on Middle Mountain. And I don’t buy that it was too cold to burn fire line at night. If they needed more fuel, they should have siphoned the fuel from the thousands of parked vehicles and dozers in town and burned a line. Again: Oxygen+fuel+spark=FIRE! Don’t tell me they can’t because they did. And if their policy really is to let the fire burn, create work for their people, and try to save structures, then come out and say it.

I think there are a lot of chicken-littles in this world. Some of them probably think the fire started at the Bear Wallow Café and couldn’t locate the wilderness area on a map, yet felt qualified to invent updates and flood facebook.

I think that the crazy man predicting the end of the world might not be far off. This will go down as the biggest fire in Arizona History, over 600 square miles, and 600 miles away I’m experiencing flooding from the wettest Spring Utah has ever had since they began keeping moisture records.

I think I’ve written enough. My intent is not to point fingers and offend. This is what I think and my thoughts have been on fire. I’m not a fire expert, nor do I pretend to be (expert: ex is a has-been, and a spert is a drip under pressure). A Dr. Phil once said that idiots write on the internet so idiots can read on the internet. But I can’t stop thinking about it, and I can’t sit still. My backyard is on fire!

Little Leprechaun

He's here... as everyone already knows but he actually has a name now. :)
Titan Clay Hall
Arrived on 03/17/11 @ 2:22 pm
Everything went so well with the delivery that I could jump in the air and do a toe-touch!
Not really, but pretty freaking close.
Really.
Now I know why people have kids.
When everything goes as it is supposed to, it's not that bad.
Justin didn't even get tired from counting... because he didn't have to!
Woot!
Titan just came so fast... beating Koy's delivery by 23 hrs.
They induced me Thursday morning because my Dr. was going to be off from Friday to Monday and I didn't want to have a baby without him delivering.
So after a few hours, I got my epidural and my Dr. checked me.
He said we would be about 2-3 more hours before we delivered.
I sat up 15 minutes later to enjoy a little T.V. and with my next contraction I knew something had changed and he had dropped from a -1 to a +2 station faster than the opening credits of "What About Bob?" could play.
Good thing my Dr. is in shape because he had to sprint back over from his office to my room.
I pushed for 1 contraction after my Dr. was set and boom!
We had a baby... with no name.
He does have a small tattoo on his bum that says, "ECH".
That stands for Easton Clay Hall but when we had to fill out the birth certificate this morning one of us had to give.
We had 3 minutes left to decide and I caved.
So his name is Titan... like a Greek God.
Hence the hair, right?
And the ECH tattoo can be removed.
The joys of technology.
He does have a girly cry but we love it.
It just makes us smile.
We just LOVE him and are so happy he is in our family!
So without further adieu- Here he is, hairy head and all!

Introducing...

The newest addition to the Kane family, Drew. Ha, ha!
Melissa had her baby right before Christmas and was nice enough to come to our house and let me snuggle him and brave enough to let Koy hold him. Then she moved to Idaho. Boo. But we still like you so come visit anytime. :)

Our baby is still safely tucked away here for just a couple more weeks.
Maybe just one more week... We'll decide what to do on Wednesday. :)

We have a few names picked out so he'll be lucky enough to come home from the hospital with a name. Ah. What a relief.

Anyway, I just wanted to catch up on our Christmas. It was crazy. We had such a busy December that I don't know where the time went. Hil decided to take the plunge and get married AND move to Laramie. Who moves to Laramie, really? We just miss her being in Logan and wish she would move back. HINT, HINT. Her wedding was super nice and we got to see all of Justin's family right before Christmas. Can I just say, I LOVED her dress? Seriously, I couldn't stop dreaming about it. It was soooo cute!

Just a pic of this kid's cute brown eyes. I just love my little Koy!

Hil's reception was at an old train station and Koy was out-of-control the whole night. It looks like he was dancing here but I'm pretty sure he tripped right when I took the picture.

Katie's parents set up a bazillion trains in their house for Christmas and she took us to see them. The kids watched those trains for over 2 hours and her dad was nice enough to let the kids each blow the train whistle. Pure heaven for this little guy.
First time seeing Santa... he didn't really care. He was more excited that he got a treat bag with peanuts in it.

Christmas morning was a little over whelming at my parents house. We had everyone there except my oldest brother and his two kids. Koy doesn't look too excited about his bike, because he wasn't. There were so many other toys being opened that we had to force him to sit and open his own gifts and he was not happy about it.

And just a couple of pics playing and laying in the snow. This kid loves it so much he even says he's thankful for snow prints in his prayers at night. Goof. (I promise he starts out with gloves on but he hates them so we play until his hands about freeze off.)
