IBC Rootbeer + Koy = Love

Justin gave Koy his rootbeer bottle the other night at Chili's. He sucked on it through dinner, ice cream and until we took him out of his carseat when we got home...

Mr. 5 Months (1 week and 2 days...)

I'm a little late getting this posted, but here are Koy's 5 month pics w/his monkey. He is just getting so big! We finally put most of the 3 month clothes away. It was sad but it was kind of fun because now he has some different clothes to wear. This month he has started to really enjoy his tummy and even has rolled from his back to tummy a few times and he can roll over his left shoulder now too. His little bottom teeth are just growing and growing and they are so cute, but SO sharp! He loves to bite on anything he can find and even got Justin's finger pretty good the other day. He's been sleeping really well the last few nights and we hope that it lasts. Justin told Koy the other night that if he slept good he would buy him a puppy, well, Koy took it pretty serious and slept until a little after 5:30. The next night he didn't get up until after 6 and then this morning he slept until 7:30! Now the trick is to not go on any trips for a while so we don't mess up this good streak! He still drools like crazy but in the last few weeks he's really been getting the spitting up thing in control. Finally! I know that's so gross, but he just has had a really hard time keeping his food down. Although, I did take him to see the Dr. last week and when the Dr. got close to him he chucked. It was pretty funny. He is getting more and more fun to interact with and he just grins and giggles at you. We have so much fun with him and he makes the funniest noises sometimes that Justin and I just laugh. Oh, he's just so cute!

(Yes, his jeans are floods. We'll eventually buys him some that fit.)

(I love this face and you can kind of see his teeth.)

(He looks so cute in his denim jacket. Thanks Aunt Heather!)

Spring Break

Justin's spring break was actually pretty adventurous this year. On Friday we headed down to St. George so that we could be to my grandma's 90th birthday party on Saturday. Since we had never been to the St. George temple, we decided we would get up Saturday morning and go. Bagle and Christi joined us and it was pretty fun. Then we went to grandma's b-day party, ate, looked at some pictures that were pretty humerous. Actually, it was really fun to see pictures of us that we had never seen but it was even more fun to read the captions by some of them. Oh grandma... Then we stopped by Neilson's to get frozen custard before we headed out to California. Mmmm... custard....

We were about 100 miles away from Matt and Laurie's house when Koy had decided he was not going to sleep or be good in the car seat anymore. However, due to some quick thinking, I hit the play button on my phone and handed it to him. The annoying sample songs kept him entertained and when I reached back to snap a picture of him, this is what I found... It was fun to stay w/Matt and Laurie and be to Paige's blessing. We had a great time in Cali and Justin even went and hung out with the Vet in Laurie's ward one day. I think he had a good time. Also, we went hot tubbing and then Justin got the idea to jump in their un-heated pool. Yeah, freeze ya to death. I was kind of a chicken, but after you got in and your heart skipped a few beats, you were ok.

On the way home we stopped and stayed a night in Vegas. The main reason we go to Vegas is to see Danny and Chels. (Thanks for always letting us bombard you!)

And after we watched the fountains at the Belagio, we headed home. We stopped in St. George at grandma's to bathe Koy and get more custard. Seriously, you can't pass up the opportunity to get custard. We didn't get home until a little after 3 am, which is insanely late but it was a lot easier on Koy. He slept the whole way from St. George! Wahoo! We really had a good trip and it was so nice to be in the warmth and sunshine! I am half tempted to move there, but it may be a little to0 hot for us in the summers, so I guess Laurie will just have to move back to Utah!

Procrastination

I should be packing but I'm not. TV is boring and Justin isn't home yet.... so obviously there is NOTHING to do. Koy has been asleep since shortly after 7 and hopefully he'll sleep well tonight because I fear it might be his last good night for a while. Travel is never good on him. Oh well...

Have I ever told anyone that I just love Justin? He's so cute. He had to shoe some horses early this morning and when he came home I was just getting Koy dressed. (Dressing Koy is seriously a long process. He's so stinkin' funny and we just end up playing and then before I know it, we've been playing for over an hour... anyway...) Justin comes up and starts talking to Koy and he's like, "Should we go to the auction?" and I'm thinking, "Do I look like I'm ready to go to the auction?" Well, Justin was just talking to Koy, not me. Imagine my dissapointment. J/k. He just wanted to take Koy for a little while and chill together. I thought it was so cute. He likes just takin' his little boy with him. Infact, Koy has been to the auction more than I have and last time I went there was this crappy horse for sale that I wanted really bad. It was only $20 and even though it probably would have died the next day, I felt so bad that no one would even pay $20 for him! Really, when he went back into the corrals and the other horses asked what he went for, he had to admit he wasn't even worth $20. What a dissapointment. He was probably mocked. Poor thing... Well, it may be Koy's last time at the auction because he got a little rowdy and decided to buy some steers. Silly kid. So now we have 6 kids instead of 1. Justin is pretty excited. I just love to see him happy! He took them over to Tremonton tonight and I called him like 2 hours ago and he was stuck... Hmmm... hopefully he gets home sometime tonight.

Last Saturday it was so sunny but freezing outside that I couldn't resist trying on a cute summer thing on Koy... He probably froze but once the cute lil' outfit was on him, I didn't want to take it off...

That was the first time he has sat in the rocking chair on his own and he had a ball! He's so funny. Hil came and babysat him that day and Justin and I went to Taken. Wow. It was good at the time but really, it gave me nightmares. We got home and I'm not sure Koy was being a very good boy. He was teething last week and he was just grumpy. Sorry Hil!

Koy loves to be upside down and last night Justin hung him upside down and he was trying so hard to arch his back to see what was behind him. It was so funny and he was just excited and probably wondered why everything looked so silly.

4 Month Stats

Koy finally had his 4 month appointment and right now he weighs in at 14 lbs, 10 oz and is 25.5 inches long. He's in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th for height. He started on cereal last week and he loves it unless he is too tired to eat. Suprising, I know. This kid usually would eat all day if we would let him. He's quite the spitter-upper but it's getting a little bit better. I thought it was because he eats too much but even if he eats for like 30 seconds he spits up. He was a champ at his check up except he started crying when the dr looked at him. Really, his dr. said it was because he felt insecure but Koy freaks out when he sees people he doesn't know. Our friends came over last week and Zach wanted to hold him and Koy stuck out his bottom lip and then started to cry. Oh well. Hopefully, he is ok when we go on our trip next week and he is in places he doesn't know.

He had to have two shots and I was quite happy that they brought in two nurses so that they could each give him a shot at the same time... well, I didn't stay happy for long. They gave him the shots and then the one nurse started to give him the little oral immunization. The first time he had it the nurse said that it usally calms them down but good heck, do they expect the kid to just suck that down right after shots? Koy really is a good baby and he wasn't even crying very hard. She started to give the oral stuff to him and he wasn't just sucking it down like no tomorrow but he wasn't spitting it out. Well, he obviously wasn't swollowing it as fast as the nurse wanted him to and she said to him, "Well just choke on it then." What?! You don't talk to my baby that way! I'm no over protective parent but good heck! He is only 4 months old and you just gave him two shots and now your mad at him because he's crying and he's not sucking down the medicine? I just stared at Koy and then after he finished the medicine, she just walked out of the room, no "see ya in a couple months" or "your all done." She just walked out. I really like our pediatritian but so far only one of the girls that works for him is nice. I'm half tempted to call him and tell him what happened but I don't want to be an annoying mom. On the other hand, I don't want my baby being talked to like that. I worked for a pediatric dentist for 2 years and I NEVER talked to a kid like that. Even when a 15 year old cried during flouride treatment (I know, drama and she seriously needed slapped...) and when a 3 year old bit my finger so hard that it bruised it, I didn't say anything rude to them. I'm still debating on what to do...

On to other matters, Koy has been a little bit off this week. He's not really fussy but he's not as good as usual. We have discovered little white nubbins coming through his bottom gums. Yeah, this kid is getting his first teeth. Yikes. It makes me a little nervous but I guess they have to come in sometime.

The new addition to our family is doing great. Justin smiles like a kid in a candy store when you talk to him about his truck. I was a little worried he would regret selling the Dodge, but he is just in LOVE with his purchase. They are like best buds and they go almost everywhere together. Koy and I went for our first ride in it last week and it really was fun. It is SO loud but it does have some major POWER. (If I'm correct, they put a hot-rod engine in it...) Koy was funny and he didn't really know what to think. He just stared at us with huge eyes at first but maybe he was confused because he could see us too. It's pretty fun to just drive around in and I'm glad Justin is so happy with it. I haven't taken any pictures of it yet, but I'll get some soon.

Jolly Time Popcorn = EVIL

So for those of you who haven't tried out the Mallow Magic flavor of popcorn from Jolly Time, DON'T START. It will ruin your life. The delicious popcorn will rule your day, your night and every split second in between. You will find yourself just trying a few scrumptious kernels... and then a few more... and then you'll lick your fingers and say your done but NO, you can't stop, you keep eating and eating and pretty soon the bag is gone and then you say, "Heck, I already ruined my diet for one day, why not just a little more from a new bag?" and then you pop another bag, squeeze the gooey marshmallow over top, shake and before you know it the whole bag is gone and your licking the inside of bag just for one last taste. . . I hate this popcorn.

*FYI, I have not eaten a bag on my own yet but have contemplated it. These are just my thoughts and if I didn't have any self control, I would be the next contestant on the Biggest Looser and my life would be ruined.

4 Months!

Koy has survived 4 months with his crazy parents. Woo woo! As you can see, he LOVES to smile and his giggle is so cute! Here are some of his accomplishments for this last month:

* He likes to drool, drool, drool. Bibs don't help because if he gets it in his mouth, it is completely soaked in just a few minutes and if he gets it up in his face so he can't see, he freaks out.

* He is noisy, noisy, noisy. He just lays on the floor and squeels and makes noises at whatever he can. It gets so loud sometimes that it's pointless to try to have a conversation or watch something on T.V. Thank heavens he likes his binky!

* "Cars" can keep his attention better than anything else I've found. It's nice to be able to have something to keep him entertained so I can get ready.

* His arms are long enough to finally reach all of the toys on his toy bar and swing. He was sitting in the seat from his swing this morning and before I had even walked away he had pulled both of the stuffed animals off and was squeezing and eating them.

* He has a stuffed turtle that he quite enjoys squeezing.

* Doing the actions to the "USU" cheer makes him giggle and he even got a free shirt from Big Blue at one of the games.

*And finally, his biggest accomplishment as of yesterday is.... drum-roll please.... he can roll from his front to back!!! It is so fun to see him get all excited when he rolls over all by himself. What a cutie pie!

He has his 4 month check up on the 24th and so we don't know how much he weighs or how tall he is right now. But we'll find out next week and my sis-in-law Camille gets to find out what they are having on that day. We're so excited for them!
