Sushi

Mr. "Won't Eat Oyster Stew" came home a few weeks ago all excited about a new adventure he had. For lunch one day his friends finally got him to try some sushi. Wierd, but Justin just loved it. He had tried one that has crab, cream cheese, mango and avacado all rolled up in sticky rice. He isn't a fishy person, so this came as quite the shock that he loved this sea food dish.
Last night he wanted to share his new found love with me. It actually wasn't too bad and I figured it is one of those things that probably gets better with time. The texture of the sticky rice mixed with all of the flavors made me gag, but just a little. The second time, it wasn't so bad either and I thought, "I could get used to this." Well, then my plate comes and has some Sushi, Teryaki chicken, an array of Japanese food, and along with my sticky rice, a hair. It didn't bug me too bad because I wasn't going to eat the rice anyway. Then I got looking and they put like those golden and black sesamee seed things on everything just for a garnish I guess. I ate some chicken and in the middle of dinner, I figured what the black sesamee seeds reminded me of: mouse poop. I tried to keep eating because I was so hungry but each mouthful just made me think of mouse poop and my stomach started to churn to the point I almost lost it. I'm glad Justin took me to try sushi, but it might be a while before I go back.

What the Crockpot?

Question: Who gets married and doesn't recieve 5 crockpots for their wedding?
Answer: Us.
Yeah, I don't know how we beat the odds on that one but when we got married we didn't get one stinkin' crockpot... We did get a ton of super cool things which we were really grateful for but because we didn't recieve a crockpot, why would we want to buy one? Over the course of the last three years there have been many times when I have wanted one. It sounds so lame and old to me but really, they are quite the invention. So for Mother's Day, Justin and Koy gave me some money to spend on anything I want in the way of a crockpot. Yay! I can't tell you how excited I am to have one and secretly, I made a spot in one of the cabinets for one a few weeks ago because I almost broke down and bought one.
That isn't the only good thing Justin has done for me though. He sent me flowers on Thursday and when we got home late last night from branding in Randolph, he still ran back out and got Charlie's Ice Cream, made me breakfast this morning and even taught primary for me today. He was made the 2nd counselor in the EQP OFFICIALLY a few weeks ago, leaving me a solo teacher in primary for now with an average of nine 5-year-olds every week. (It doesn't sound bad but there are a few rowdy kids that cause stress.) I've been kinda sick the last few days and Justin didn't think I should spread whatever it is with the primary and I felt kind of bad calling a mom on Mother's Day to teach the class, but, Justin piped in and offered before I even started complaining. Whew! He really is the best husband and always makes me smile. I just love him!

Koy's First Word

Might be shit. So yesterday we were about to leave the house and I smelled the muddy aroma coming from his diaper, so I plopped him down on the couch and went to work. I was using the plastic changing shield underneath his butt, and inside the diaper was this man-sized solid turd. I went for the wipes, and as I lifted his legs to get a good wipe the weight of the turd slid the diaper down the plastic changing shield and off the couch, landing face down on the carpet. First you see it, then you think it, then you say it, and sometimes you do it. So I cuss in front of my child and while passing the sacrament. I'll try harder but I'm making no promises, especially taking into account my DNA. I've even corrupted Sherrie. Just a little.

Just can't get enough...

of this kid! He just suprises me everyday. He has been able to roll from his belly to his back and from his back to his belly for a while now, but Sunday he decided that he could really get around that way. He was rolling everywhere and it was just making us laugh. After a few days of that, he has decided it isn't the most efficient way to get around and so he's been trying to figure something else out. Today he was trying so hard to get on his knees but he would just push himself backwards and then he would do a superman and kick his feet really fast and try again. Poor kid is just stuck in reverse. I was doing my hair this morning and when I looked for him a few minutes later, he had pushed himself backwards far enough to reach our bed and this is what I found him doing...

Is that a mischievous look or what? What a silly kid.

He had his 6 month check on Monday and he did AWESOME! He weighed in at a whopping 15 lbs 13 oz (25th percentile) and he's 27 1/4 inches tall (75th percentile). I was kind of dissapointed at his weight. He feels so heavy to me and he eats his veggies and cereal like a maniac. He had 2 shots and some oral medicine. He only cried for a second after the shots though! I stuck the bink in his mouth and he was golden. What a champ. I told the Dr. what happend last time we were there and he didn't even offer an appology or explaination or anything! That kind of frustrated me but we had a nice nurse this time and I like the Dr., so we'll stick with him. I just was expecting an appology or something. Goodness. Well, that is about it in our world. Justin is studying for his last final tonight and I CAN'T wait for it to be over and have my husband back!!!!!! He and Brady did fix the floor infront of our door last night. (Thanks again for dinner Christi and I'm glad you were here to hang out with!) When the old owners put the carpet in they put it clear up to the door and we hated it. (Really, who does that?) The door drug on the carpet and it was getting all worn and gross looking. It looks so much better now that I just like to stand and stare at it. Wierd, I know.

Hap Birt

Yes, that is right. Koy is a little over 1/2 a year old. Wierd huh? (That is why he only gets half of the letters in Happy Birthday.) This month has been pretty fun. He loves to roll and it makes me laugh when I go to get him from a nap to find him at the other end of the crib. I just haven't gotten used to the fact that he can move. He really loves his tummy and he can hold himself up pretty well. He'll be finding his knees anyday now and I can't wait. He is so noisy and loves to eat. He has tried squash and green beens and lets just say, at first he wasn't a fan of the squash but the green beans are even worse. It makes us laugh. He probably wishes he could have more squash, but we're all out. Sorry bud.

He loves to spit now. He just squishes his little lips together and spits whatever he can out. Whether it be spit or food. We bought him his first pair of little sandles. When I put them on him for the first time, he had pulled one off and was chewing on it before I even picked him up. Oh well. He chews on everything... kind of like a puppy. He got his first sunburn this month. We went for a walk a few weeks ago and we stopped and chatted w/one of the girls in our ward. He had red little cheeks for a few days but it wasn't so bad that he cried from it but we make sure to always have sunscreen now. You can REALLY tell if he is mad when he cries now. Good heavens child! Usually it is because he's suck and can't roll over anymore. Also, he has started to squeel like a little girl. If anyone knows how to train him to stop, that would be wonderful. J/k. :) We just love this little guy and he makes us laugh all of the time!

He is so curious and always know what is around him!

He can sit up on his own for a few seconds

Easter Weekend

We went to Evanston to G&G South's house for Easter this year. It was really fun because we got to see Grandma Kim and so many of our favorite people. Koy and Bridger had fun picking at each other. It is probably so wierd for them to see a person their size but I think those two are going to be good buddies. Here are a bunch of pics but I couldn't just choose one.
Koy and Bridger

I think Bridg is trying to tell Koy a secret. Maybe wondering why they have to smile for the camara again...

After they realized they were the same size, it was impossible to get them to both look at the camara

"Can I eat your hand?" says Bridger...

"Sure!" says Koy, "but I get to pick your nose."

Givin' hugs...

Grandma's and their grandkids. Cute huh? (I think Koy looks like my nephew Logan in this picture... uh oh...)

Gramps and Granny Goose

We went to the Baby Animal Days and the Hertiage Center with my friends last Friday. It was pretty fun but it was IMPOSSIBLE to get all 3 of these kids to look at the camara.

This was Koy's Easter toy that we gave him like a month early. He loves it and we love that he loves it.

Just some random pics...

Grrrrr....
Here is is John Deer outfit he got from grandma. His head is way to big for the hat.

Just can't resist the stinkin' Carter's clothes. I love this outfit!

Koy loves to grab your face. (It hurts sometimes.)
Here he is giving Dad some loves. It was so cute!
